In 1964, the Prime Minister of Sweden Tage Erlander comes with the idea of establishing a peace research institute to celebrate 150’s years of unbroken peace in Sweden, but this idea proceeds further in the year 1966 by the Sweden Royal Commission Ambassador Alva Myrdal and renamed it Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
